Price Matching Challenges: Tips for Dealing with Cashiers

Our goal with is to help you save money price matching at Walmart.  We have received a number of e-mails talking about challenges with cashiers readers have encountered while price matching.  We truly believe that knowledge and killing with kindness are the two best tactics when price matching.

Read and print off the Wal-mart’s ad match guarantee, the price match policy clearly states:

  • We will match any local competitor's advertised price.
  • We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor's ad.
  • Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)

Separate your price match items and let the cashier know you would like to price match.  When the cashier asks you for the price, they may also request the store name (Hyvee, Bakers etc) that you are price matching.  This information is provided on your PriceMATCERZ list.  An important distinction is you are NOT price matching the PriceMATCHERZ list when the cashier asks where the price came from, say the store not

If you EVER have a cashier refuse or give you troubles when price matching simply ask for the manager.  We have found that managers are very familiar with Wal-mart’s ad match guarantee policy and are more than willing to provide great customer service!

Lastly, if you had a great cashier thank them for their time.  Let them know you appreciate their patience with price matching and seek them out week after week!
